Specialized Day Treatment Programs
Our successful Regular Day Treatment and child IOP programs are designed for 3 to 8-year-olds and are proven to help children conquer emotion regulation, social skills, and communication skills.
Transformative Day Treatment for Children 3-8 Years

Let Us Help Your Child Succeed
With over a decade of proven success, our Day Treatment Programs support children ages 3–8 who struggle with behaviors like biting, kicking, or frequent tantrums. We offer two different programs: a Regular (Full-Day) Day Treatment, and an Intensive Outpatient Program for children (child IOP).
Both programs are designed for children aged 3-8 who struggle with behavior issues or emotional challenges. Designed to feel like a supportive daycare setting, this program helps children build emotional regulation, social skills, and healthy communication habits.
We make care accessible by accepting most major insurance plans and Medicaid.
Regular Day Treatment for Children

Proven Success in Changing Children's Lives
After you child is assessed by our licensed therapist, they may be assigned to our Regular Day Treatment for children. If so, your child would attend our full-day program Monday through Friday (8 hours per day) until she/he has achieved all the goals that you and your child’s therapist have identified.
The average length of the program is 66-85 treatment days, although every child is different.
This program is considered a PHP level of care.

What is the Regular Day Treatment Program Like?
At first glance, our Day Treatment for children may look like a daycare or classroom, but we actually provide pediatric behavioral health services. We intentionally use a familiar, classroom-style setup to help children practice social skills in a setting that mimics school, with mental health professionals serving as their guides.
Each classroom is staffed with:
- 2 Child Behavioral Specialists (lead staff)
- 1–2 Specialist Aides (trained support staff)
- 1 Licensed Therapist
Staff are trained in psychology, mental health, social work, or counseling. They hold bachelor’s or master’s degrees, depending on their role.
IOP for Children (Intensive Outpatient Program)

Partial Day Attendance, Tailored to Your Child's Needs
Based on the assessment by our licensed therapist, your child may be assigned to our Intensive Outpatient Program for children.
In the child IOP, your child would attend our Day Treatment facility in West Chester, OH, three times per week, three hours per day. This Intensive Outpatient Program for children allows them to maintain part-time attendance at school or daycare while still receiving focused support at Positive Leaps.

How Does the Child IOP Program Differ from the Regular Day Treatment for Children?
Different children have different needs, which is why we offer different levels of care.
The facility, staffing, and evidence-based approaches are the same between the Regular Day Treatment and the child IOP programs. The only difference between the programs is the length of time your child will spend attending the program per week. For the IOP program, children would attend three days per week for three hours per day.
What Makes Positive Leaps Day Treatment Programs So Successful?

High Staff-to-Child Ratio with Child Mental Health Experts
Unlike a school or typical daycare setting, at the Positive Leaps Day Treatment programs, we provide a very high staff-to-children ratio. This enables us to monitor and provide personal care for your child.
For both our Regular Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient programs for children, we are staffed by mental health professionals, including child behavioral specialists, specialist aids, and licensed therapists. Our expert staff will guide your child and help them learn emotional and social skills to get them back on track and restore peace to the home.

Comprehensive, Expert Care
Both the Regular Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient programs include:
- Weekly family therapy, with parent coaching
- Collaboration with your child’s “home” preschool or school teachers
- Monthly updates to your child’s physician
Family involvement is not about critiquing parenting. It’s about giving you tools and support based on evidence-backed practices that you can use at home to keep things consistent and effective.

Individualized Goal Setting and Progress Tracking
Each child’s progress is tracked daily. Our staff documents both social skill development and personal goals using narrative observations and data-driven tools, such as graphs and percentage tracking. This allows us to identify strengths, challenges, and tailor our approach accordingly.
Each child is supported by their assigned classroom team and an assigned therapist, who work closely together to create and adjust personalized care plans.

Continued Care Even After Graduation
After graduation, we provide:
- 3 months of aftercare with monthly check-ins
- A final family survey to help us improve
Thanks to this structured follow-up, Positive Leaps has a 96% long-term success rate.
